He is right that a game should first and foremost feel good to play like Celeste do but having a good story will only highten the experience (like Celeste have).

myamotos look on story in video games makes me respect him less. yes a game should have good gameplay and you should try new ideas. but saying " does it even need a story" infuriates me so damn much.

Miyamoto is no longer making games. He announced this last year when they did Mario movie. He is now a representative for Mario to the universe and not even producing anymore

When you point out that Microsoft wanted the XBox as a computer for the living room and feared the Playstation would be a threat to traditional computers, it's worth pointing out that a decade later Microsoft's continued obsession with that vision led to most of the problems with how it pitched XBoxOne. Remember all that talk about streaming apps and television control with your voice and a lack of focus on games? That was Microsoft trying to finish its dream of ruling the living room with a Microsoft computing device. What they fully failed to see coming is Smart TVs. Now all the media functionality is built into the TV itself and a video game console has little utility other than...playing video games again.

I know it's not good to speak negatively of people, but Miyamoto is just so frustrating. The truth has been constantly coming out about how he has restricted story in various games. Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 comes to mind.

Miyamoto suggested the they didn't need a story, but didn't say they had not do a story. I'd not Miyamoto was calling the Sticker Mechanic and gameplay of Sticker Star boring, something people who played the game also said was boring and not fun. I'd also note the team behind PM64, TTYD, and Super Paper Mario was a different team than the one behind.

I don't think there's anything wrong during game development to question aspects of the game. The game was probably better for being scrutinzed.

Despite the later fate of the series, I think Thousand Year Door became a better game by virtue of this process, but it's kinda funny how the most Pikmin-like chapter of TTYD is generally the least popular.

Putting it in the context of women's rights at the end is awfully silly. Wanting a female protagonist in a game series is fine, but acting like it's something you're owed by the creator of a story whether a game or book is entitled nonsense. It's something like saying, "How dare an author write a story they want to write when they should be writting the story I want them to write." Women's rights aren't being violated because a reoccuring story has a male protagonist.

We need Link to be ALSO playable, he and Zelda are amazing together, they could use Link's combat skills and Zelda's magic to save the day, think about it, it would be AMAZING!

I honesty want a new 2D top down Zelda game that is a continuation of the original Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link.

Thing is, they could’ve have her fight with magic and bow only like she does in Smash, or give her a gun like she had when she was pirate. Or they could’ve made Linkle canon by bringing her and her crossbows.

I don't see much demand for Halo, God of War to have female protagonists. The reason that Zelda gets so much demand is because she is the title character. She is also really awesome whenever you see her in the mainline games.

Nintendo is probably "testing the waters" to see how people react to zelda being playable so they can decide on making her playable or not in any future games.
